The Chiropractic Lifestyle

Chiropractic is a healthcare profession that works with your nervous system and the structure of the spine. Our Central Nervous System (CNS) is controlling everything in our body; thus, maintaining homeostasis. The job of the spine is to protect your brain stem, spinal cord, and the nerves. When your spine is in the proper alignment, this will allow your body to function at its optimal level.

In our modern, high-paced lifestyles, we experience a high amount of stress, injuries, and traumas that can cause our spine to misalign. When traumas happen on the macro or micro level, this can cause a misalignment of the spinal bones. These misalignments in our spine are called the Vertebral Subluxation Complex (VSC). The VSC will not only cause pain and tight muscles in the area of the misalignment, but it will also cause stress on the nerves that are branching out. This leads to other problems in the body.

In our society, we are much too happy to medicate our symptoms, without figuring out what is actually causing the issue. The goal of chiropractic is to correct the neurological and physiological cause, not to simply treat the symptom.

Chiropractic and Sports

Chiropractic goes beyond pain management and symptom-based care. Countless sports teams utilize chiropractic to ensure that they are performing at their optimal level. This profession works with the spine to remove any neurological interference between the nervous system and muscles, organs, and other tissue. The muscles and joints are controlled by the nerves - which means that in order for the muscles to work andrecover well, the nervous system must be healthy.

Chiropractic helps Tom Brady, as well as many other top-performing athletes with their biomechanics so that they can have proper motion and perform well during games.

Tom Brady, quarterback for the 2017 Super Bowl Champions New England Patriots says, "As long as I see the Chiropractor, I feel like I'm one step ahead of the game.”

Whether you are an athlete or not, chiropractic is designed to help your body function and move well.

Chiropractic for Wellness

Not only is modern chiropractic care a safe and effective treatment for all ages, but it is also cost effective. A great example to illustrate this is the cost of spinal surgery. According to a Canadian study (2010), “In the U.S., at least 200,000 microdiskectomies are performed annually at a direct cost of $5 billion, or $25,000 per procedure. Avoiding 60 percent of thesesurgeries [by sending the patients to chiropractors] would mean a reduction savings of $3 billion annually.

In the Canadian study, patients receiving chiropractic care averaged 21 visits during their course of care. If a cost of $100 per patient visit is assumed for the care provided by the chiropractor, then the total cost per patient would be $2,100, yielding per patient savings of $22,900, or $2.75 billion dollars annually.”

If you aren’t getting checked regularly by a chiropractor, do yourself a favor and go get your spine checked. A preventative approach will save you time, energy, and money. Not to mention, it feels great when your body is well-adjusted and functioning at its optimal level.
